Koodai - Sea

In Tamil, Koodai simply means “basket”. Entirely handmade, knot by knot, with recycled plastic threads. Combining ancient weaving techniques and contemporary designs, these bags are made using a “slow made” process by a small group of housewives in Salem, southern India. This is an initiative created to bring additional income to low-income families and preserve this unique knotting technique. 

Each piece takes over a week to make. The quality of the final product and the uniformity of the patterns testify to the artisanal know-how.

These versatile bags are here to last, take them with you anywhere. They are ideal for the beach in summer, but also for going to the market or shopping in any season. They are available in different vibrant colors and offer long-lasting fashion with great durability.
